Yoesden, a magical place
‘Yoesden’ tries to capture this magical reserve which is home to Adonis Blue butterflies (see also the sister painting ‘Adonis Blue) and a spectacular field of Devi’s Bit Scabious flowers. Their flowers are like purple pom-poms and they cover the slopes of a woodland clearing, contrasting with the view of the yellows and straw-colours of the grassy bank. This is such a special place I’m sure I will return again and again.
The Chilterns are a crescent of chalk hills running primarily through Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. The nature reserves protect ancient pastures that are home to rare species of flora and fauna.
