Quarry
Abandoned chalk quarries are a feature of the Chilterns. In this picture I have tried to capture the feeling that time has stood still, a connection to a long past way of life now hidden amongst the encroaching trees and bushes and a haven for the wild flowers and animals.
The picture is richly textured as layers of paint have been added to and subtracted and scraped into to show lower layers and lines etched.
My painitngs are inspered by nature and the natural world. I try to paint how being in nature makes me feel.

Acrylic, finished with cold wax on canvas 50 x 40 x 2.5 cm (19.75 x 15.75 x 1 inch)
Frame is 54.6 X 44.5 X 3 cm (21.5 X 17.5 X 1.5 inches)
The picture is finished with a protective wax finish which gives it a gorgeous subtle sheen. The sides of the canvas are painted off white.
Picture is supplied in a hand painted off-white wooden frame, finished with wax.
