Dart, zip, dance, dragonfly inspired picture
Selected for Society of Wildlife Artists 'The Natural Eye 2020' exhibition at the Mall Galeries, London, Autumn 2020.
'Dart, zip, dance' along with 'Wing' was inspired by dragonflies seen on a visit to Decoy Heath, a nature reserve near Aldermaston in Berkshire. It is one of the best sites for dragonflies and damselflies in Berkshire and around 23 different species have been known to breed around its shallow pools. We were greeted by several male Black-tailed Skimmers defending their territories and appearing to dart, zip and dance in the sunshine.
The painting has numerous layers giving it a very tactile textured surface and layers of glaze add depth and luminosity.
It is finished with a layer of protective cold wax which also provides a soft sheen.
The painting is mounted in a beautiful hand painted tray frame, raised up so it appears to be floating. It will be supplied ready to hang.
It would suit rooms with a natural decor and looks great alongside indoor plants.
It would make a great present for someone who loves dragonflies or a nature lover .
