Adonis Blue
Selected for Society of Wildlife Artists 'The Natural Eye 2020' exhibition at the Mall Galeries, London.
Adonis Blue is one of a series of paintings inspired by nature in the wildlife trust reserves in and around the beautiful Chiltern Hills. Adonis Blue butterflies are one of our rarest butterflies. I saw them at Yoesden nature reserve flitting above the grasses like small pieces of cerulean sky that had fallen from the clouds. I felt uplifted!
The Chilterns are a crescent of chalk hills running primarily through Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire. The nature reserves protect ancient pastures that are home to rare species of flora and fauna.
